Day 1
53 days later
Today I was outside setting up my succulent garden, and out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw movement in the catio. (Hereafter called a squirrelio because Jamie says so.) I watched, and sure enough, there was my Little Monster exploring his outside space. I was so happy I could have cried. (Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. I’ll never tell.)
Surprisingly, he didn’t spook when I walked over to talk to him, and I was even able to go in the house to retrieve my phone for photos.
I went in his room a little later to feed him, and he was very excitedly running loops up and down the cat tree and in and out the squirrelio portal. Happy happy happy squirrel!
I knew when we set the squirrelio in place yesterday that it would take him some time before he used it. I’m super pleased and proud that it only took him a day to be big and brave.
I‘m sitting with him as I type this, and he’s on a chewing mission. Note to self: collect him some fresh branches in the morning. We’ve had our wrestling match, and he took a little bit of formula. He’s weaning himself off formula, and Healthy Blocks, vegetables, and wild food makes up the biggest portion of his diet. He’s learned to crack a nut, though he only gets one if he eats well that day.
I love this little guy to the moon and back.
