I photographed a wedding for Rachel & Patrick three Saturdays ago, a small beautiful backyard by-the-water ceremony that turned in to a lovely covered porch wedding when the rain arrived. Not just a little rain; a whole lot of rain that lasted the rest of the night and ruined our chance for the sweet couple photos around the property. Those photos are such an important part of the wedding coverage. We did some fun photos on the porch, but it just wasn't the same. So I did what I always do in such a situation by offering to meet with the couple on a future date for a redo of sorts. Rachel's immediate & excited response was, "You mean I get to wear this fabulous dress again?! Heck yeah!!"
Today was the day! We met at the same location--Rachel's dad's house--and though the day dawned cloudy & drizzly, by session time, the clouds had parted, and the light was perfect. Once again, the bride was beautiful, and the groom was handsome, and the love & happiness was flowing. We started by the water where the wedding ceremony started three weeks prior. No rain to chase us inside today!
A little side note: her dress is absolutely perfect for her personality. Perfect!
I scoped this little spot out as soon as I arrived today.
A little dancing in the driveway.
I had this particular photo in my mind ever since the wedding.
A kiss at the end of the evening....
I kind of secretly like it when the couple photos get pushed to a day separate from the wedding. It's a much more relaxed session, and we aren't pushed on time. I'm so happy Rachel & Patrick agreed to this. I think we made magic today.
I'm so happy I got to "work" with my smart, beautiful and talented wife on this shoot. Patrick and Rachel are great folks! Plus, her Dad and Anne fed us like Southern Royalty - Kent's out of this world ribs with homemade slaw (with bacon!), baked beans, broccoli salad (Patrick's handy work), garbonzo bean dish - topped off by the absolute best Key Lime pie (Anne's) I have ever had! I'm grateful to have been a part of this afternoon / evening.
This second chance was such a wonderful blessing!!! Everything about this day was wonderful!! It WAS much more relaxed, it was all fun and no worrying about who’s waiting for us, the leaves were showing their spectacular color, and being able to wear that dress again is just amazing. I’ve never felt so pretty as I do in that dress!! My groom IS so handsome and I never knew there were fun pictures to be taken at a wedding!! We are so grateful for this second chance!!! I’ve never heard of such a thing with wedding pictures. Best of all I got to spend extra time with some other special people in my life-my dad, Anne, Adrianne, and Jamie…
